Elastic IP (EIP) is a fixed public IP address in a certain region, and can be purchased and held independently. EIPs can be bound to CVMs, NAT Gateways, elastic network interfaces (ENIs), and high-availability virtual IP addresses (HAVIPs) and provide the capabilities to access and be accessed by public networks.

EIP IP Address Types

Tencent Cloud supports various types of EIPs, such as general BGP IP addresses, dedicated BGP IP addresses, accelerated IP addresses, and static single-line IP addresses.
General BGP IP addresses: The multi-line BGP network in China covers multiple network operators (such as the three major operators, CERNET, and China Broadnet). The BGP public network egress supports cross-region switching within seconds, ensuring that your users can enjoy high-speed and secure network quality regardless of which network they use.
Dedicated BGP IP address: The dedicated line that avoids detours through the egress networks of international ISPs. It has lower latency, which effectively improves the coverage quality of overseas businesses for users in the Chinese mainland.
Accelerated IP addresses: Anycast is used for acceleration, making public network access more stable and reliable, with lower latency.
Static single-line IP addresses: Users can access the public network through a single ISP. The cost is low and autonomous scheduling is convenient.
Anti-DDoS EIPs: A cloud-native Anti-DDoS BGP IP address that must be used together with Anti-DDoS Pro for Enterprise and provides Tbps-level best-effort Anti-DDoS protection. After an Anti-DDoS EIP is bound to business resources and Anti-DDoS resources respectively, it gains Anti-DDoS protection capabilities.
Note
General BGP IP addresses: General BGP IP addresses in Hong Kong (China), Macao (China), Taiwan (China), and other countries and regions are mainly for access initiated from outside the Chinese mainland. If you access IP addresses outside the Chinese mainland from within it, you may experience significant latency and packet loss. The standard Service Level Agreement (SLA) of products for public IP addresses (including EIPs) is not applicable in this scenario.
Dedicated BGP IP addresses: With lower latency, they are suitable for business scenarios where users access IP addresses outside the Chinese mainland from within the Chinese mainland and are sensitive to network quality. Currently, dedicated BGP IP addresses are only supported by the standard account type, so the traditional account type needs to be upgraded to the standard account type to use them. For more information on the upgrade, see Account Type Description. Dedicated BGP IP addresses are only supported in the Hong Kong (China) and Singapore regions. For more information on the prices, see Billing Overview.
Accelerated IP addresses: You need to activate Anycast Internet Acceleration (AIA) to apply for accelerated IP addresses. Contact your business manager for an application.
Static single-line IP addresses: Currently, the static single-line IP address type is only supported in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, Jinan, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Beijing, Shijiazhuang, Wuhan, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenyang, Xi'an, and Hefei regions. Support in other regions is subject to the console page. If you want to experience it, contact your business manager for an application.
Anti-DDoS EIPs:
They should be used together with Anti-DDoS Pro for Enterprise and General BGP Postpaid BWPs, and cannot be switched to other address types.
Currently, Anti-DDoS EIPs are only supported by the standard account type, so the traditional account type needs to be upgraded to the standard account type to use them. For more information on the upgrade, see Account Type Upgrade Instructions.
Currently, it is launched in the following regions: Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong (China), Singapore, Silicon Valley, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Virginia, São Paulo, and Jakarta. If you need to use it in the Shanghai region, please Submit a Ticket for consultation.
In the Chinese mainland, Anti-DDoS Pro for Enterprise provides the minimum protection and elastic protection capabilities. In countries and regions outside the Chinese mainland, Anti-DDoS Pro for Enterprise uses the highest capacity of Tencent Cloud's Anti-DDoS scrubbing center to provide full protection. For more information, see Anti-DDoS Pro for Enterprise Billing Overview.

IP Resource Pool

If you need to reserve continuous IP addresses or allocate IP addresses in a specific IP range for your services, you can Submit a Ticket for consultation. We will allocate an exclusive IP address resource pool for you.
Currently, exclusive IP address resource pools are supported by the following line types: general BGP, static single-line, and dedicated BGP.
For the fees, please consult the business manager.

Difference Between EIP and Common Public IP

A public IP address is a non-reserved address on the Internet. A Cloud Virtual Machine (CVM) with a public IP address can access and be accessed by other computers on the Internet. Both common public IP addresses and EIPs are public IP addresses, and both can provide cloud resources with the capabilities to access and be accessed by public networks.
Common public IP address: It can only be allocated when you purchase a CVM, and cannot be unbound from the CVM. If it is not allocated during the purchase, it cannot be obtained.
EIP: It is a public IP address resource that can be purchased and held independently. It can be bound to or unbound from Tencent Cloud resources such as CVMs, NAT Gateways, ENIs, and HAVIPs at any time.
Note
Currently, only the general BGP IP lines are supported by the common public IP addresses.
Compared with the common public IP address, the EIP provides more flexible management modes, as shown in the table below. For more information, see Public IPv4 Address.

Note
The public IP address console only supports adjusting the bandwidth of EIPs. For specific operations, see Adjusting Network Configuration. For adjusting the bandwidth of common public IP addresses, see Adjusting Common Public IP address Network Configuration.
EIP can be decoupled from the lifecycle of cloud resources and operated independently. For example, if you need to keep a public IP address that is closely related to your business, you can convert the ordinary public IP address to an EIP and keep it in your account.

Advantages

Elastic and Flexible

EIP is an independent public IP address resource that belongs to your Tencent Cloud account, not to any cloud resource. It can be bound to and unbound from CVMs, NAT Gateways, ENIs, and HAVIPs at any time, and can be used flexibly and take effect in real-time.

Easy to Operate

EIP supports on-demand purchase, and configuration changes take effect in real time. It can be managed and operated through multiple methods, such as the console and Cloud API.

Lower Costs

EIPs in certain billing modes can be added to a Bandwidth Package (BWP) to improve the utilization of bandwidth resources, significantly reducing your usage cost of public networks.
