This document describes the outbound/inbound bandwidth limit of Elastic IP (EIP), the differences in the peak bandwidth in different billing modes, and the methods for adjusting bandwidth.

EIP Outbound Bandwidth Limit (Downstream Bandwidth)

The network bandwidth limit set in EIP is the outbound bandwidth cap by default, that is, the bandwidth that flows out from EIP instances. The network bandwidth limit varies based on the billing mode. The detailed information is as follows.

Note:
For EIPs in the BWP billing mode, public network traffic is limited by both the EIP bandwidth limit and the BWP limit, and is eventually subject to the lower one. The default configurable bandwidth limit ranges in all the BWP billing modes (in Mbps) are as follows:
By bandwidth: 50–300
In the enhanced 95th percentile billing mode: 300–5000
In the main traffic billing mode: 50–2000
When an EIP is bound to cloud resources such as NAT Gateways, private network CLBs, and CVMs, due to the cloud resources' inherent limit on bandwidth, the actual public network traffic is limited by both the bandwidth limit of the EIP and the bandwidth specification of the bound cloud resource instance, since the cloud resource itself has bandwidth limitations, and is eventually subject to the bandwidth limit whichever is lower. Public network traffic is limited by both the EIP bandwidth limit and the cloud resource bandwidth limit, and is eventually subject to the bandwidth limit whichever is lower.
EIP + NAT Gateway
NAT Gateway bandwidth caps: 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000. For details, see NAT Instance Specifications.
EIP + private network CLB
Different types of CLBs have different bandwidth caps. For example, a standard CLB's bandwidth cap is 2 Gbps, and a Higher I CLB's bandwidth cap is 4 Gbps. For details, see CLB Instance Specifications.

EIP Inbound Bandwidth Limit (Upstream Bandwidth)

The EIP inbound bandwidth refers to the bandwidth that flows into EIP instances.
Public IP addresses billed by traffic and billed by fixed bandwidth (including billing by hourly bandwidth and monthly bandwidth subscription):
When the bandwidth purchased by the user is less than or equal to 10 Mbps, Tencent Cloud allocates 10 Mbps of public network inbound bandwidth.
When the bandwidth purchased by the user is greater than 10 Mbps, Tencent Cloud allocates public network inbound bandwidth equal to the purchased bandwidth.
Public IP addresses billed by BWP: Tencent Cloud allocates public network inbound bandwidth equal to the purchased bandwidth.

Peak Bandwidth

The peak bandwidth is mainly divided into two types: billing by traffic and billing by bandwidth. The meaning of peak bandwidth varies based on the type. The differences are as follows:

The peak bandwidth serves as a committed metric. In case of a bandwidth competition, the peak bandwidth is guaranteed and will not be limited.
In a single region, the sum of peak bandwidth of all the purchased and running instances that are billed by fixed bandwidth (including billing by hourly bandwidth and monthly bandwidth subscription) cannot exceed 50 Gbps. If you need a higher bandwidth, contact your business manager to apply for an adjustment.
Billing by traffic
The bandwidth peak value is only used as the maximum upper limit of bandwidth, not as a commitment metric. When there is competition for bandwidth resources, the bandwidth peak value might be restrained.
In a single region, the sum of peak bandwidth of all the running instances that are billed by traffic cannot exceed 5 Gbps. If your services require a bandwidth guarantee or if you need higher peak bandwidths, purchase the public network bandwidth billed by fixed bandwidth.
Bandwidth package
In a single region, the total peak bandwidth purchased and actually running for all general BGP BWP instances should be less than or equal to 50 Gbps (this is not a committed metric). If your business requires guaranteed bandwidth or if you need to raise the peak bandwidth, contact your business manager or submit a ticket to reserve the bandwidth and pay the minimum usage fee proportionally.
