Feature Introduction
redo log files currently use the fsync system call to flush data to disk, including both file metadata and file data. File metadata includes information such as the last modification time, which is not very important. In some redo flush scenarios, you can avoid always flushing file metadata to the storage device by using the fdatasync system call, thereby reducing overhead.
Supported Versions
Kernel version MySQL 5.7 20201230 or later
Kernel version MySQL 8.0 20201230 or later
Applicable Scenarios
It is mainly suitable for scenarios with high write pressure.
Performance Data
In the sysbench-write-only high-concurrency sustained write scenario, TPS performance is improved by approximately 10%.
Usage Instructions
Control whether to use fdatasync to avoid real-time flushing of redo log file metadata by setting the innodb_flush_redo_using_fdatasync parameter to ON/OFF.
