Pro clusters with elastic storage in TDMQ for Apache Pulsar support the elastic TPS feature. After you enable this feature, you can still send and receive messages normally within the elastic TPS range when business traffic exceeds the instance TPS specification, without being limited by the predefined specification limit. This feature effectively handles peak and off-peak changes in business traffic, avoiding frequent specification adjustments due to traffic fluctuations and ensuring stable business operation.

Use Limits

When to configure: The elastic TPS feature can be enabled when a cluster is created, or it can be enabled for existing clusters.
Applicable clusters: Pro Edition elastic storage clusters and Standard Edition elastic storage clusters.

Operation Steps

1. Log in to the TDMQ for Apache Pulsar console and go to the cluster creation and purchase page.
2. In the Other Configurations section, enable Elastic TPS as needed.

3. If the instance has already been created, you can also enable the Elastic TPS toggle in the configuration information on the cluster details page to enable this feature.

Recommendations for Enabling Elastic TPS:
Typically, cluster specifications correspond to a fixed TPS limit. When business traffic fluctuates, if the actual traffic exceeds the specification TPS limit, the excess traffic will be throttled, which may affect normal message sending and receiving. The elastic TPS feature can temporarily exceed the specification limit during traffic surges to handle excess traffic, thereby reducing the risk of throttling. It is recommended to enable elastic TPS in the following scenarios:
Business traffic has peaks and valleys: As long as traffic fluctuates, elastic TPS can automatically handle traffic that exceeds the specification limit during peaks to avoid throttling, and automatically stop billing after traffic falls back to valleys. Only the portion exceeding the specification is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. When traffic does not exceed the specification, billing is based on the original specification, and the specification itself remains unchanged.
Business traffic exceeds the limit for a short period: Elastic TPS is more suitable for handling short-term traffic surges. If the business remains in an over-specification elastic TPS state for a long time, the current specification can no longer meet normal demands. You are advised to upgrade the cluster specifications to achieve more stable performance and better cost efficiency.

Billing Information

Elastic TPS is billed on a pay-as-you-go (postpaid) basis. The billing unit is "XX CNY/TPS/hour". Fees are settled hourly and charged daily. Any usage of less than 1 hour is billed as 1 hour.
That is, the hourly elastic TPS fee = the maximum incremental TPS value within 1 hour × the elastic TPS unit price. The elastic TPS prices for different product forms are as follows:
Cluster Type
Elastic TPS Price
Pro - elastic storage cluster
Standard - elastic storage cluster
